How To Rebuild Your Vape Coils
2 min read
Rebuilding vape coils is a useful skill for avid vapers who want to save money. While many disposable vapes, like the Yuoto disposable, are designed for convenience and don’t require coil rebuilding, users of advanced mods or tanks may want to learn how to rebuild coils to improve performance and prolong device life.
Gather your tools:
Before starting, ensure you have all the necessary tools for rebuilding your vape coils. You will need a pair of tweezers, wire cutters, a coil jig, a screwdriver, and cotton wick. The wire used for coils can vary, but Kanthal, Ni80, and Stainless Steel are popular choices. Ensure the wire you choose is compatible with your device and will allow for the desired resistance.
Remove the old coil:
Start by carefully removing the old coil from your vape tank or atomizer. Use a screwdriver or pliers to loosen the screws holding the coil in place. Once the screws are loose, remove the old coil, ensuring not to damage the tank or any other components. Clean the area thoroughly to ensure there is no leftover e-liquid or residue that could interfere with the new coil.
Prepare the new coil:
Now, prepare your new coil by cutting the wire to the desired length. Using the coil jig, wrap the wire around it to form a neat, even coil. The number of wraps will determine the coil’s resistance, so ensure you adjust according to your preferences and the specifications of your device. It’s key to ensure that the coil is evenly spaced for the best performance.
Install the new coil:
Place the freshly made coil into the coil posts or screws of your vape tank. Secure the coil by tightening the screws around it. It’s important that the coil sits snugly and is centered in the tank to ensure optimal airflow and consistent heating. Ensure the coil is not too tight, as this can damage the threads or cause uneven heating.
Wick the coil:
Once the coil is in place, cut a small amount of cotton wick and thread it through the coil. The wick should be tight enough to allow e-liquid to travel through but not too tight that it restricts airflow. Cut any excess cotton, ensuring it’s positioned well inside the tank. Be careful not to have the cotton too short, as this can lead to dry hits.
